Jio Platforms IPO Sees Strong Investor Demand
The Jio Platforms IPO has attracted significant interest from investors, with the public issue receiving subscriptions of more than five times the shares available by the end of the second day of bidding. Institutional investors remained the biggest contributors to the demand, while high-net-worth individuals and retail investors also participated in the offering.
The IPO aims to raise approximately ₹30,213 crore, making it one of the largest public issues in India’s stock market history.
Institutional Investors Lead IPO Subscription
According to exchange data reported on October 23, 2026, the portion reserved for Qualified Institutional Buyers (QIBs) was subscribed approximately 13.3 times by the end of Day 2. This category includes eligible institutional investors such as mutual funds, banks and insurance companies.
The portion reserved for high-net-worth and other non-institutional investors was subscribed around six times. The employee reservation received bids exceeding twice the shares available, while the portion reserved for eligible Reliance Industries shareholders was subscribed more than four times.
These figures indicate strong demand across multiple investor categories, with institutional buyers playing the leading role.
Retail Investor Participation Improves
Retail investor interest also increased during the second day of the IPO. The retail portion, which had reached approximately 70% subscription on the first day, was fully subscribed by Thursday’s close, with subscription reaching around 1.5 times the available allocation.
The improvement suggests that participation expanded as the IPO progressed. However, subscription figures alone do not establish whether the shares will deliver positive returns after listing.
Jio IPO Price Band and Grey Market Premium
The Jio Platforms IPO has a price band of ₹1,065 to ₹1,119 per share. The issue is scheduled to close on October 23, 2026, with listing expected on October 28, subject to the applicable process and exchange schedule.
The Times of India report also mentioned an unofficial grey market premium (GMP) of approximately ₹241 over the upper end of the price band. GMP is an unofficial market indicator and is not a guaranteed estimate of the listing price or potential profit.
What Should Investors Understand?
The strong subscription response highlights investor interest in the Jio Platforms offering. However, investors should review the company’s offer document, business performance, valuation, risks and intended use of IPO proceeds before making any investment decision.
High subscription numbers do not guarantee listing gains, and market conditions can change before listing.
